Design Technology - Making a Chair for Baby Bear

As part of our topic 'Once upon a Time' we have been looking at the storybook Goldilocks and Just the One Bear. We were given the challenge of designing a chair for Baby Bear that was nice and strong so it would not fall over or break. We started off by designing our chair and thought about what materials and equipment we needed to help us make it. After that we worked with a partner to create our chair - this was a very fun afternoon!!
The final stages of our challenge were to test to see if Baby Bear sat on the chair without it breaking or falling over and to evaluate our product looking at what worked well and what we could improve next time.

Design Technology - Animal Hand Puppets

As part of our 'Go Wild' topic and to end our topic we have created our own animal hand puppets. We started off by drawing our design so we knew what we wanted the end product to look like. We then created a prototype of our hand puppet using paper and our challenge was to try and make it big enough to fit our hand.
The final stage was to make our animal hand puppet which we made out of felt and other materials and we stitched it toegther using a needle and thread.

A huge thank you to all the adults who gave up their time to come and support the children. We hope you enjoyed your morning working with the children.

Remembering 100 years - World War 1

This week all of our learning has been about World War 1 as this year it has been 100 years since the war ended. To pay our respects to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our country we each made a poppy and we create a class wreath. Some of us also painted a poppy design onto a pebble and we created a memorial garden.
