Year Two Technology Afternoon
What a great afternoon we all had coding and computing!
This afternoon the children of Year 2 invited their parents into school to see what kinds of things we are learning in our computing curriculum.
We had fabulous fun coding to fly the drones, roll the sphero robots and direct the Beebots. We followed algorithms to make simple bulb lighting circuits and used the iPads to try to code the Lego Mindsorms game - 'Fix the Factory'. In the hall we went 'unplugged' and the children controlled their parents like robots to move along a route. Lastly, we explored some of our favourite programs in the PC suite.
It was VERY busy! The children all had lots of fun, and we think parents did too!
At the end of the afternoon the parents were able to listen to a talk about all things 'online safety' in the hall. We were very fortunate to have our local community support police officer to help us with this. Many thanks to Jessica Eales for attending and sharing her knowledge with us.
Thank you to all the parents for attending. We are sure it will be an afternoon your children will remember!
