Spring 2

Brushing our teeth!

We talked about the importance of looking after our teeth. We practised brushing our teeth, making sure that we got the ones right at the back.

    

Our local area

We went on a walk to Hartshill Hayes and described what it was like in the woods.

We then compared this when walking through the busy streets of Hartshill.

  

We looked at different features in our local area and then made models and maps of the area back in school. 

  

 

Brazil

We had a super start to the half term, learning all about Brazil and carnival.  We learnt lots of facts about Brazil and looked at different animals found in the Amazon rainforest. Brazil is home to the biggest carnival in the world. We made our own masks and finished the week with our own carnival.

Spring 1

Ice

We explored ice - it was very cold!

  

Chinese New Year - The year of the snake

We found out how people celebrate Chinese New Year. We made lanterns and money envelopes, tried using chopsticks and enjoyed tasting some Chinese food!

  

Space

We have been finding out lots of facts about planets and astronauts and learnt that Neil Armstrong was the first person to land on the moon!

We designed and made our own rockets using junk modelling.

Autumn 2

Our topic this half term is Let's Celebrate. We are having lots of fun learning about and joining in with different celebrations

Bonfire Night

We learnt all about Guy Fawkes

Remember, remember, the 5th of November

We enjoyed a hot chocolate and marshmallows around the bonfire 

We used different materials to make our own model fireworks

Diwali - the festival of light

We learnt about how people celebrate Diwali and made our own diva pots

Weddings

We enjoyed planning our own 'wedding.' We had lots of fun celebrating and dancing! 

Christmas

We have been very busy making cards, decorations and calendars. We learnt new songs and enjoyed performing our nativity concert.

Autumn 1

Balance Bikes

We had a daily session this week on the balance bikes to improve our balance and steering skills. We used our feet to help push us along. We  had lots of fun and were better at steering and stopping by the end of the week. 

We looked at the work of the artist, Andy Goldsworthy. We collected natural materials and then used them to create our own pictures

   

 

We have been doing lots of activities to help develop and strengthen our core and muscles so we can become super writers!

    

Our topic this half term is Once upon a rhyme. We have learnt lots of nursery rhymes and have enjoyed lots of activities related to each rhyme.
